How do infantile psychologists work here at Clinica Heredia & Bautista?

Our work always has as its main objective to help the minor and therefore we must not only work with the child but with their family and school as well. Our work with the minor is always thorough and careful allowing the minor to feel comfortable and understood. Only in this manner will we be able to reach higher effectivity with our intervention.

How is a session carried out with our infantile psychologist?

This may vary according to each case. Generally, during the sessions, we usually work with parents and the child, but it is also habitual that the infantile psychologists work alone with parents and children separately.

When to seek an infantile psychologist?

When parents seek help from one of our specialists in infantile psychology, they do this generally recommended by their school as they may observe some behavioral alterations in the classroom, or because they observe that the child is having difficulties with their curricular activities. In this case, our specialist can carry out a neuro-phycological evaluation that will identify the areas with higher difficulty, allowing us to intervene in an adequate manner.

On the other hand, parents will come to see our specialist because they see signs of sadness, irritability, or showing behavior that affects social relationships and family.

What are our specialties?

Our psychologists experience is ample and varied, but the most common interventions include;

  • Development or learning disorders.
  • Autism spectrum disorders.
  • Anxiety disorders such as generalized anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and phobias.
  • Mood disorders such as depressive disorder.
  • Attention disorders such as attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)
  • Sleeping disorders such as insomnia.
  • Addiction disorders such as substance abuse or addiction to new technologies.

Combination work of Infantile Neuropsychology and Physiotherapy

Both the Infantile physiotherapists and Infantile Neuropsychologists have come together to offer a comprehensive intervention from a multidisciplinary approach. This perspective is especially useful for cases where the minor requires not only a psychological intervention as well as a physiotherapeutic one. Examples of these cases are minors with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) with developmental issues or minors with acquired brain injuries.
